About the Role
Based at our head office in Dodworth, Barnsley, this is a broad, hands-on HR role. As the sole HR professional, you will take responsibility for the full HR function, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, employee relations, wellbeing and compliance. You will also be responsible for the attraction, selection and ongoing management of a Learning & Development team member, ensuring capability development aligns with business needs. You will act as the first point of contact for staff issues and provide professional guidance to managers and the leadership team.
The role involves regular travel to support our 200+ people across our depots, which span from Newcastle-upon-Tyne to the West Midlands and from Preston to Hull. You will build strong relationships across sites to ensure consistent, fair and professional HR support.
You will manage recruitment campaigns, contracts, employee records and HR policies, ensuring compliance with UK employment law. You will advise on employee relations matters, support managers with difficult conversations and help shape the people and learning strategy in line with BAPP’s business objectives. This is a hands-on position with the opportunity to make a real impact on the employee experience across the organisation.

Requirements
About You
You will be an experienced HR professional with broad knowledge of UK employment law and practical experience in a similar sector, such as construction, manufacturing or industrial. You should be confident operating independently, highly organised and able to balance operational and strategic responsibilities. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to influence at all levels are essential.
The role requires regular travel to depots, so flexibility and a full driving licence are required. CIPD level 7 or equivalent HR qualifications and CIPD Membership are required . What matters most is your ability to manage the HR function single-handedly and deliver practical solutions for a growing business who care about their people.
