On Freedom's Wings

ree

After nearly eight years of planning, preparation and hard work the On Freedom's Wings Avro Lancaster MK1 bomber has final taken to the Lincolnshire Skies!

The huge structure 26 metres long with a 31 metre wingspan was erected last weekend by the brilliant team at Timmins Engineering & Construction Ltd and BD Site Services.

The structure was transported to its final destination in Norton Disney off the A46 by Hutchinson Engineering Services Ltd and escorted by Lincolnshire police to ensure its safe delivery.

The structure will be a permanent reminder in the heart bomber county, Lincolnshire (just two miles away from former airbase RAF Swinderby) of the sacrifice bomber command made during the Second World War.

Congratulations to everyone at Bomber County Gateway for making it happen and letting us be part of such an amazing build!

Over 3000 BSEN15048 and BSEN14399 CE assemblies were used to construct and assemble the final structure.
